About Me
Meet your Clinical Psychologist

Hello and welcome to my practice!
My name is Lauren Volker, and I am a Clinical Psychologist.
In my experience of working with various individuals, I aim to provide a safe, empathetic and healing space. I have found that often, the fear of speaking to an unknown or unfamiliar person can hold us back from seeking out the professional help or support. That is one of the reasons why I focus on providing a safe, healing space that is non-judgmental, authentic and cultivated to the client's needs.
I have earned all three of my degrees, cum laude, at Nelson Mandela University. I had achieved my Bachelor's in Psychology degree, cum laude in 2017 and my Honours in Psychology degree, cum laude in 2018. I had then completed my Masters in Clinical Psychology degree, cum laude, in 2023. As part of my training and experience, I had completed my internship at one of the largest psychiatric hospitals in Gauteng, Weskoppies Hospital and my community service year at one of the largest correctional facilities in Gauteng, Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre; whereby I had served at both female and male centers. During these imperative training years, I have worked with various professionals as part of the multi-disciplinary team, such as social workers, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists to optimise the patient's care in those respective settings.
As a result of my years in this field, I have experience in working with individuals, including adults and children in clinic, psychiatric and correctional settings. I have experience in working with a range of mental health issues, such as
-
depression,
-
anxiety,
-
bipolar and mood disorders,
-
trauma-related disorders,
-
neurodevelopmental disorders,
-
schizophrenia and psychotic-related disorders and
-
personality disorders.
Additionally, I have experience in working with other aspects of life, such as
-
relationship difficulties,
-
life transitions,
-
difficulties with self-esteem,
-
professional/career difficulties,
-
health concerns,
-
stress management,
-
sexual abuse,
-
spirituality,
-
gender transformation and LGBTQ+ issues,
-
grief, loss and bereavement.
Apart from therapy, I have experience in psychological assessments, such as neuropsychological, scholastic, IQ and personality assessments.
I believe that my prior experience has instilled a very important yet sensitive passion for engaging with diverse communities. My aim is to work in collaborative efforts with the client to ensure that they experience empowerment, healing and growth throughout the process of therapy.
